A Note on Nando's
We need to talk about Nando's. About 34 London branches serve halal chicken, but NOT all of them. This matters.
Halal branches include: Whitechapel, Stratford, Wembley, Baker Street, Leicester Square, Edgware Road, Brixton, Camden, Dalston, and more. Check nandos.co.uk/restaurants and look for "Halal Chicken Served Here" before you go.
We're working through tagging every halal Nando's branch individually on The Chicken Bible. No bulk tagging, no guessing.
How We Verify Halal Status
1. Official certification - HMC, HFA, HQC, or equivalent. Published on their website or displayed in-store. This is the gold standard. You can check HMC-certified businesses at halalhmc.org.
2. Supplier documentation - Restaurant publishes halal supplier certificates (like Thunderbird and Butchies do).
3. Confirmed by multiple halal food directories - Cross-referenced across halalfoodguy.co.uk, halalgirlabouttown.com, feedthelion.co.uk, and halalfoodlondon.org.
4. Direct from the restaurant - Owner or official channels confirm halal status.
If we can't verify it through at least one of these, it doesn't get the halal badge on our site. We'd rather miss one than get it wrong. For halal options by area, check our area-specific halal guides covering East London, South London, Shoreditch, Soho, and Brixton. Four of our top 8 wing spots are halal - see the full best chicken wings guide. For our full rotisserie and Sunday roast picks (including halal options like Toum), see the Sunday roast guide.
Important: our halal badge indicates that the chicken served is halal-certified based on our research. However, individual store certifications can vary - especially across chain branches - and halal standards differ between certifying bodies (HMC, HFA, HQC). We strongly recommend confirming directly with the specific store you're visiting to ensure it meets your personal requirements.
